The Sit-In Continues in DC

Posted on June 23, 2016

THE BIG IDEA: Paul Ryan calls it “a publicly stunt.” That may be true. But it is proving to be a darn effective one.

Republicans, unsure about how to deal with a sit-in that started on the House floor yesterday at 11:30 a.m., tried to talk over Democrats and hold routine votes. Then, around 3:30 a.m., they adjourned the chamber until after July Fourth – two days earlier than planned. In so doing, they’ve guaranteed that the debate about gun control will roil the congressional recess and remain a dominant storyline for the next two weeks.

Democrats continue to occupy the House floor this morning. About two dozen stayed through the night… SOURCE

Surveying Superfoods: the Benefits of Cacao

Posted on May 26, 2016

Recently, I have begun thinking again about superfoods. One superfood that needs a new look is Cacao.

Raw powdered cacao is a wonderful superfood. Remember the recent dark chocolate craze? Raw cacao has nearly 4x the anti-oxidants of dark chocolate!

But that’s not all, cacao is also known for the following:

Improve your mood… Cacao contains anandamide whis known to help create feelings of euphoria.

-as an Aphrodisiac… it can seriously help get you in the mood.

Balance Mood Swings

Protect you from Heart Disease

Prevents aging

Combats Fatigue

Strong Hair and nails

Lowers Blood Pressure

Improves kidney and bowel function

Reduces insulin resistance

And much, much more…

I have just recently started taking this regularly and will post with results over time.

Have some extra fresh tomatoes from the garden? A load of fresh basil from the Summer heat? This recipe will get you going.

In a frying pan, place all of the ingredients (with the exception of the tomatoes) in a warm frying pan with a bit of olive oil. Saute for about 5min on medium heat. Add your chunkily chopped tomatoes to the mix. Saute for another 5 min. Pour the ingredients into a blender. add the heavy whipping cream and blend gently. Try to keep the foam down a bit, so don’t walk away. Pour the smooth soup into a cooking pot and add one cup of water. Serve when ready (appx. 20 min on low heat).

Words Have Weight

Posted on March 10, 2016

Here I am sitting in my office heading into yet another Spring Break thinking about how I can explain to my students that words have weight, have importance, have gravity…

I met Habiba when she was a young student with the American University of Sharjah.  At the time, I was teaching writing and served as a faculty advisor for the student newspaper.  As a communications major focusing on journalism, Habiba was very interested in learning the basics of her craft.  However, it wasn’t just that.  She took to heart the things we read about democracy, civil society,  and globalization.  Eventually, she made her way to Editor of the student newspaper, where she continued to find her voice and first began putting words into practice.  After graduation, like so many students, she took job with a local newspaper in Dubai, the Gulf News.  When the Arab Spring hit Egypt hard in 2012, Habiba became more and more swept up in events back in her home country and she returned to her home country to join and report about the ongoing protests.  She was killed in the Rabba massacre during the Egyptian military overthrow of President Morsi.

Another Spring has come and when I see the flowers blooming, I also think of Habiba’s smile.  That flower was always there on her face.  She was just one of those people.  So, when you stop and think of words (of writing), remember their importance.  Just remember, words can carry the weight of freedom written large across a smiling Spring sky.

Checking out Genesis Mining – Lifetime Contracts -2.5 Percent Promo Code

Posted on June 03, 2015

I started a small contract with Genesis Mining and will post a comparison between them and BTCHarvester soon.  The biggest difference I can see up front is initial price and term.  While 5 years is a long time, Genesis Mining’s lifetime contract is pretty enticing.

Anyway, I will run the numbers for you in about a week and see who comes out on top.

If you are interested in Genesis Mining and want a 2.5% discount, just use the promo code:

Best Option for Mining Bitcoin in the Cloud –

Posted on May 26, 2015

At the end of 2014 a number of cloud bitmining operations shut down due to the fall in Bitcoin price.  Others, like CEX.IO temporarily put cloud mining on hold. There simply wasn’t enough profit to be made vs. expense.

Fast forward to today, the price has moved sideways and crawled back a bit. In terms of timing, now is a great time to get involved with bitmining in general (more on that in another article).

I recently bought some GH/S with . They are currently offering hashes at some of best prices out there. Hosted in Sofia, Bulgaria, they must have managed to crack the power/expense issue.

Profits, so far, with my 400 GH/S have been good.  However, I will keep everyone updated on how this website progresses.
